Catch up:

Jenny:

But then everything took a break and I started to pack to move – including packing up my sewing area!

Beverly:  Very little!  I’ve only done a bit of mending and made a start on my Obrigada dress inspired by Portugal.  I was pretty sick the first week after we last spoke and this week we were busy!  Three nights with dinners out.  Very exhausting.

New Patterns:

Damn Good Dress by Forest and Thread – up to 60” hip.

Featuring both a v-neck and crew neck, this dress is loose fitting while still being ultra-flattering at the waist thanks to a specially designed belt that includes elastic. Wear it over our pleated pants as a tunic or to your next socially distanced Sunday in the park, either way, this confident beginner-level pattern definitely ticks all the boxes. Simple dress pattern for beginners.

No line drawings!  Why not???

Helen’s Closet June Shorts and Pants – up to 62” hip

The June Shorts and Pants are that elastic waist design that you can never have enough of in your wardrobe. Choose from classic wide-leg pants or shorts with anchored inseam pockets or get fancy with an overlapping petal short with a bias tape detail. All views feature an optional waist drawstring and a comfortable fit. The June Shorts and Pants are great for everyday wear and for lounging, but they can also be dressed up with fancy fabrics! The pants are cropped but you can easily customize the length of the shorts or pants to suit your personal style preferences. We know you won’t be able to make just one pair!

Helen’s Closet Cassidy Wrap Top – Up to 62” full chest

The Cassidy Wrap Top is a fun and versatile pattern that will quickly become a favourite in your wardrobe. Two views are provided and you can easily mix-and-match features to create your perfect wrap top. View A is longer and has short grown-on sleeves and a narrow waist tie. View B is cropped and features long sleeves and a wide waist tie. Both views have a topstitched neck facing and gathers under the bust and at the center back waist. Cassidy can be styled as a dressy or casual top and the waist tie can be tied in a larger bow in the back or wrapped around and tied in a small knot in the front.

Tilly and the Buttons Esti Co-ord set – up to 61” hip

Lots of conversation online about this set – especially the poorly fitted pants on the plus size model – a beautiful model done poorly by Tilly.  Tilly hasn’t had the best reputation for being fat-positive, or even fat-accepting.  This just seems to continue that narrative.

Just got to the part about the stuck foot pedal and was amused and had to tell my husband, he immediately said to use a fishing line! That’s how they get decals etc off cars amongst other things. Of course it’s probably too late to help Jenny……

Noooooo! Please tell me the July theme isn’t mending. Anything but mending! 😉
Or maybe alterations/refashioning? I think I finally cracked the code on hemming knits with a twin needle, so I could refashion all my big, shapeless tee shirts that I never wear.
