I have a tip for a cheater’s version of shirring. I needed to shirr the back of a dress and my machine wasn’t playing nicely with elastic thread on the bobbin, so instead I used a narrow zigzag stitch to effectively applique the elastic thread onto the wrong side of the fabric. You need to anchor the elastic thread on either end of the line of stitching so that it keeps its stretch, and make sure you keep the elastic taut as you sew, but it worked like a charm!
Thanks for the great tip!
